CSG, Selected for Design Marathon!

In October we, along with program partners Urban Agriculture Collective of Charlottesville and the Charlottesville Food Justice Network, were lucky enough to watch genius in action. Our three partner organizations were selected as this year’s Design Marathon Client Partner.

The Sixth Annual Design Marathon brought together upwards of 50 regional graphic designers who were given the challenge to create a comprehensive visual identity for our partner programs in our tenth year.

The day began with our program leaders Jeanette, Shantell & Richard providing quick descriptions of CSG, CFJN & UACC for the designers to consider. After this crash-course in food justice designers broke off into work teams to brainstorm ideas for how to capture the work that we do as individual programs as well as a united organization. Our staff, including the Food Justice Network Community Advocates, spent the day working with the design teams on our vision for our identity paired with their expertise having worked in the design field. At the end of the day each design team presented their final proposal –  including logos, website content ideas, brochures, fonts, colors and more for use to consider and select.

Not only was it a fun and interesting day for us to be a part of this creative process, we made many connections with brilliant and passionate community members who expressed their support for the work that we do. We are so grateful to Serena Gruia who, as the Director of Our Creative Might, was an integral part of allowing our participation in this year’s Design Marathon. Thanks also to Lucas Czarnecki for his work on Charlottesville Design Week.

Stay tuned in 2020 for the grand reveal of our new logo!
