Sticks for Sheds -Saturdays in January 10% for CSG

Every garden needs a shed to hold digging forks and plant markers, row cover and wheelbarrows, watering cans and hand trowels. The City Schoolyard Garden at Jackson-Via Elementary is no exception! Located on the beautiful 22 acre school property, our garden coordinator and volunteers are hauling tools from the parking lot to the garden and back again.

But, thanks to our partners at Sticks Kebob Shop – we are moving closer to our goal of building a simple garden shed, that students and educators can use to engage youth in garden activities and lessons. The shed roof will also be used to collect recycled water and use it for seedlings and plants!

Each Saturday in January, Sticks will donate 10% of proceeds from their Preston and Pantops locations to City Schoolyard Garden’s Sticks for Shed project. We actually need sheds in five of the six elementary schools, and are starting with support for Jackson-Via Elementary!

Sticks, committed to providing local families and residents healthy alternatives to fast food, partnered with City Schoolyard Garden because of our commitment to a hands-on approach of educating students about healthy eating and gardening.

And they are not stopping there! Sticks has also supported City Schoolyard Garden by donating veggie kebobs and rice during our fall harvest festival at Buford this past October.  They designed, printed and donated our volunteer t-shirts for the event and took staff time to serve up the food with our other generous food donors!

Thank you Sticks Kebob Shop!

Join us at Sticks this Saturday for a healthy meal while raising funds to raise the roof on a much needed garden shed.  For more information see our program flyer or contact grow@cityschoolyardgarden.org.
